The annual Polish bowling tournament

The M.S.P.B.A. tournament is open to bowlers across Michigan and beyond. Competition is held over several weekends each spring across the standard USBC events — Team, Doubles, Singles and All-Events — for both men and women.

Optional jackpots: an Optional Scratch Jackpot and Optional Senior Handicap Jackpots are offered, and multiple entries are allowed.

Entries are submitted on the printable entry form (available as a Word document or PDF). The 2023 entry deadline was February 28th. New self-check-in sheets are now provided at each pair of lanes for a faster start.

  • USBC-sanctioned competition in Team, Doubles, Singles & All-Events
  • Separate men’s and women’s divisions
  • Optional Scratch & Senior Handicap jackpots, multiple entries allowed
  • A different Michigan host city every year

Tournament Averages

The average you bowl with determines your handicap. Here is exactly how your tournament average is set.

Short answer: your tournament average is taken from your highest qualifying book/league average using the priority order below. The MSPBA publishes a 6-year average list (the last 6 years you bowled) — that figure is what is used for the tournament.

The average you use is determined in this order:

  1. Last year’s highest book average
  2. Current year’s league average (if it is 10+ pins higher)
  3. MSPBA tournament average (if it is 10+ pins higher)
  4. MSPBA tournament average (if you have no #1 or #2)

If none of the above apply, you will establish your average with the games you bowl in the tournament.

Important: the “all years since 1999” list is provided for reference only — do not use those older averages for your tournament average. Use only the last-6-years figure.

The averages lists are maintained by the association and were last updated 11/07/2022. They let every bowler verify the figure that will be applied before the squads are set.

Squad lists: once posted, check that your doubles and team entries are correct. Notify Secretary John Masters of any changes prior to your weekend.
